Pool Usage - Musket Valley Dr.
I realize it is coming to the end of the summer season and the use of the pool diminishes each week, but for now and the future, the topic of children unaccompanied by an adult should be addressed. I also realize kids will be kids, but I have found myself babysitting kids with no parents in ear or eye shot, as well as some with parents in the pool area with no regard or respect for the common area for that matter. Just a thought, possibly for the meeting coming up. Thanks Sean

Sorry I hadn't registered, but there are other things I have notice at the pool. The safety equipment is often off the racks and on more than one occassion I have had to tell children to put the equipment back/leave it alone. Again no parent around as a control. Also chairs and tables are often times scattered about, sometimes even in the pool. At least 4 of the chairs are damaged, as is some of the safety equipment.
Thanks
Sean
Sean and Claudia:
If you go to the Contact Us page, you can submit these questions to the Neighborhood Watch Committee. The current chair is Evan. He should be able to help you get involved with the committee.
Thanks,

Hi Sean and Claudia,
I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to respond to your post. But welcome to the forum and thanks for contributing!
Unsupervised chilren at the pool have been a recurring problem, one that we're working to address. The board has tried hiring services to patrol the pool at various times during the day and even to monitor it on weekends. We're still working at finding the best way to ensure that everyone can use the pool in a safe and enjoyable manner.
Ultimately, the responsibility lies with parents: to ensure the safety of your children, do not allow them to use the pool without adult supervision! Indeed, let me quote the policy stated in our April newsletter: "Because no lifeguard is present, it is important for everyone to use the pool in a responsible manner. Be aware that no one under age 18 is allowed to use the pool without adult supervision! This is a vital safety issue. Our security patrols will make frequent checks for unsupervised minors at the pool. If unsupervised minors are found at the pool and our examination of the electronic entry log indicates that they entered using a resident's card, that resident's pool privileges will be permanently revoked. If unsupervised minors are found at the pool and we determine that they entered without a valid card, we will call the police immediately. Keep your children safe and out of trouble with the law! Please make sure that a responsible adult accompanies them whenever they go to the pool."
Those of us on the board welcome your cooperation and suggestions for ways to keep the pool a safe and pleasant place to be.
Best,
dan
Since we have cut the Pool Monitoring out of the budget this year, it is imperative that we all contribute to the monitoring of the pool. Please report issues with unsupervised children at the pool.
