There was an APX alarm salesman going door to door today 6/22. Beware of anything he is offering. I've seen some web articles where people complain of their shady sales tactics. I don't know if he is a legitimate salesman. He was asking a lot about what type of alarm system I had. I cut him off, and asked for a card or flyer, he got defensive and said "why should I give you any flyers if you are trying to brush me off". At this point, I told him I was not interested in any upgrade and he left. I contacted the police, and they said they would send an officer to patrol the area.
Good for you. We went through the trouble of putting up " No Soliciting " signs at the extrances to our neighborhood. Just remind them next time to please respect our request for not soliciting and if you are interested in purchasing something you will contact that agency. If they harass you, tell them you will call the police.
Mike
We also have been solicited in the last few days. Yesterday we found a Jehovah Witness tract in our door -- then today, in 15 minutes' time, we had a security alarm person + an exterminating company. I informed the exterminating salesman about the No Soliciting sign and he said he had not seen it. Later, my husband bought from him. Sigh.
But, what can be done besides calling police?
Shoot them.
Haha, good one!
We need a gate to keep people off our property
I finally put up a very clear and direct note by the doorbell which basically says that first, solicitors should not bother ringing our doorbell because, second, we do not give our business to anyone who rings the bell, knocks on the door, or leaves a flyer, card, etc. I then add that if we need a service, we know who to ask and where to look for recommendations.
Have had nary the disturbance since the sign went up, and much less crap left at our house.
I will say the businesses who leave ziplocks with their info at the base of the driveways infuriate me the most. I should follow up on those but haven't.
