On the night of 4/24/2010, 2 houses' front doors were kicked in attempted burglary. One house was on Timber Heights and the other one in the nearby vicinity. Police informed one resident that they received multiple calls about similar incidents in the neighborhood that night.

Not Random

While it is a shock to those involved, my general opinion is that nobody randomly kicks in anyone's front door without knowing what is behind it, so usually the attempted burglar's will be known to the house owners.

A big dog or a big gun with full rights in Texas to shoot them dead if you felt your life was in threat means that people don't try to come through a door they don't know what is on the other side of.

Not that I am condoning either behavior but just want to say there is no need for everyone to panic, but as always apply common sense, lock your doors, don't display wealth, lock up your cars, put them in the garage, etc. don't make yourselves a target.

My wife's car was broken into

My wife's car was broken into last friday night in the alleyway behind our house.

It seems that the neighboorhood is becoming a bit more targeted in recent months by theives.

Our house was a target on Horse Wagon Dr

It was that Friday or Saturday April 23 or 24. Heard a loud thump on the door, my Dad said he looked out of the window and saw two black guys run across the yard. We went outside loaded and ready, but they were gone. We talked to a neighbor who's door was also kicked but they didn't get in. We called the police and they said they had received some calls about this.

I know it was random because I don't know anyone in the area and no one I associate with knows where I live.

We need more participation in a neighborhood watch and to look out for each other and for shady looking people who seem to be looking for targets.

I posted the above comment

I posted the above comment about a kick-in attempt and I'd like to retract it. It turns out it was a prank by some neighborhood youths. Attempted home invasion is not a smart prank and would have ended in these punks getting shot if I had seen them that night. Their parents might want to keep a closer eye on their children.
