The corner house on the west end of Sprinkle Cutoff was robbed during the day on Friday. They either kicked the door in or used a crowbar. The police stopped by my house and asked that the word be spread to the neighbors to be on the lookout for each other's homes especially if you are home during the day when most are at work. He also said that an alarm system is a big deterrent to these sorts of thieves. He indicated that this sort of thing was happening all around the city.
Take some time this weekend to check the screws in your door jams/hardware to insure they aren't the short (inch or less) screws that most builders use. Replacing them with longer screws (3inches) can make the door a bit harder to kick in and they might move on to an easier door.
