I thought this might be the best place for the forum, but it might be best to throw this out to everyone.  In light of the relatively small instances of vandalism and misconduct I thought I would suggest a few items to get the community involved.  Involvement creates familiarity and familiarity creates comfort, which in turn promotes communication.  In the end I think it is sort of the kindnest begets kindnest sort of thing.  Alice Sheth and Elena Sun have already had more than a couple events to get people out and doing things.  They would be the ones to probably progress things, but I figured I would start with a few ideas.

- In the past I have seen in other communities hold a Monthly (bi-monthly, quarterly...whatever) community garage sale, or flee market, or other name if you will

...this was in a large parking lot, where people set up in a relative organized way, tables of things they wanted to let go, sell, etc.  Where we lived, the area was big enough they had a stage for a band every once and awhile.  This might translate into a sort of Farmer Market also.

- Speaking of bands...on a bit of a more grandious idea would be a concert.  Maybe at the pool, or in a culdesac.  Sort of a block party.....

- On a smaller scale a POT LUCK.   Alice and Elena have done for one or two events at the pool.  They could always be more successful, but they have turned out pretty nice thus far.

- Even a smaller scale, would be "block" POT LUCKs.  Again, Alice has had a couple of these, and all have been successful and incorporated a variety of great food.

- Things are pretty well managed here in Pioneer Crossing, but maybe a biweekly, monthly, or quarterly improve the community day.  (Clean up the pool, pick up trash, or volunteer to plant trees where there might be a need for improvement, help a neighbor fix up their yard, etc.)

...  October 7th sounds like a great day for a block party, and we'll be grilling if nobody else is.

Anyhoo, just thoughts on creating some energy in the neighborhood.

Yall take care

Sean and Claudia have great

Sean and Claudia have great ideas. I would be willing to participate in a community garage sale. Don't have alot but never wanted to hassle with all the details just for one person. Maybe we could use the parking lot of swimming pool to set up.

Pot lucks sound like fun also

You're in luck! There's going

You're in luck! There's going to be a neighborhood yard sale on October 25th. It's only going to be on the Payton Falls side of the neighborhood, though. But if you live on that side or know somebody on that side, maybe you could put some stuff up for sale? You can get more info here: http://www.pioneercrossingwest.org/events/20081025/150
