This was my house, I didn't have a security sign in the yard, nor was my system being monitored. I never changed out the tiny screws that were holding the locks to the doors jams either. People, please learn from my mistakes, if you never have, check to see how long the screws are that hold in the lock to your door jam, you should have four three and a half inch screws for each lock, not two one inch or less screws like we had =(
Parents, talk to your children, climbing through someone's back window could result in them being shot dead or mauled by a dog, do you want to deal with that outcome, if not then educate your children that theft is a crime, and if caught their future will be ruined in career and personal opportunities, just to steal a game console. As that was all that was stolen then I suspect you know the thief, and they knew you owned one.
Last night (4-23-2010) on Timber Heights, a house's front door was kicked. Door held so the attempted burglary did not succeed. When the police arrived at the scene, they informed the resident that another house's door was kicked open around the same neighborhood. Let's keep our eyes & ears open and watch out for our neighborhood folks! Dangerous people are out there.
I submitted a request to extend our fence to our HOA thinking it was going to take at least 2 weeks to get a respond, but I got a response the same day asking for another document needed to be submitted also, and only 2 days later, I recived an email with the approval.
I am quite suprised and gratefull for their quick response... THANK YOU HOA!!
On 06-11-2009 on Timber Heights there was a burglary during the mid-day time frame. A computer game console was stolen. Additionally, approximately 2 weeks prior there was another home burglary where another computer game console was stolen (believed also to be during the mid-day time frame. Please keep an eye out for your neighbors, and suspicious people, this includes young highschool age people. Both homes were entered through a back window, and only those items noted were taken. Talk to your neighbors and let people know to be aware.
It is not costing you anything! Besides, driving around would be more time consuming and costly to the ARC. As required by the CCR's you must first notify the ARC about your improvement -- even if it is a "free" program from the City. The ARC is a committee made up of voluteers who live in the community. They process hundreds of requests a year. We have a system that is fast and easy to process such requests. It is only the laziness of the individual who wishes not to apply for their request. Any major changes to your landscape requires approval from the ARC. It is imperative that you follow guidelines to avoid damaging any underground utilities and sidewalks while planting these trees. Unfortunately, common sense does not always rule! Check before you dig!
Several people have taken it upon themselves to ignore the rules and have planted these trees without considering the dangers and damage that will become evident later on.
I apologize for the harshness but this admonishment is what keeps our neighborhood desirable and attractive to those wishing to become part of a livable community.
It has been the standard practice of the association to allow pool parties with the stipulation that those wanting to have them first inquire with Goodwin management first to avoid conflict and to schedule said pool party. We do not want to restrict anyone's enjoyment of the facility but we also encourage respectful use of the pool area and ask those individuals to consider others while doing so.
The pool is a place where all of the residents of Pioneer Crossing West should feel free to come and relax. I had planned visit to the pool this weekend, April4--5 only to arrive and find a child's birthday party in progress inside the pool area. I don't feel that this area should be available for parties. The adjoining park would be a better use for this type of activity. Large gatherings inside the pool area congest and make it difficult for other resident users to access the pool. Please curtail or eliminate or ban the use of the area inside the pool fence for the use of gatherings.
I couldnt agree more. How ridiculous and time consuming for the architectural review committee to require every single recipient of the trees to submit request for approval when they can just drive around and flag those that are in violation (yellow flags). Why would they want to create additional work for themselves AND the residents? I have seen notices and reminders posted all around the neighborhood. How much is it costing ME to have someone print those notices and post them and to have the ARC review and respond to every single request for tree planting? Is this where the 10% increase in HOA fee being spent?
The HOA Architectural Review Committee missed a great opportunity to place a positive spin on the donation of free trees for our neighborhood. Instead of publishing a reminder that these trees MUST be approved before planting, could you have simply surveyed the neighborhood, noted the recommended placement by TreeFolks, and only contacted homeowners who had a questionable spot assigned for their new tree(s)? You could have even just walked the neighborhood and moved the yellow flags that did not meet the Pioneer Crossing HOA standards. Wouldn't it have been nice to read an announcement to "Celebrate Texas Arbor Day and plant your free tree to help make our neighborhood cooler. Unless the review committee contacts you regarding the placement of your free tree, plant away and enjoy!"
I know that I have made the choice to live in a neighborhood with an HOA, like it or not. The intent of setting standards for property care is a good thing. However, there is much to be said for the "honey, rather than vinegar" approach.
Please come by and approve my designated tree spot. My free trees have been delivered and are waiting to be planted.
With the economy being the way it is right know you should be lowering the dues not increasing them.
I would like for the association to deal with the dogs and their owners as far as getting them to clean up after them. I beleive the association is responsible for enforcing that city wide law. Would you please do something about that.
James,
My opinion concerning board meetings is to allow the board to conduct critical business in as short a period of time as possible. It is not my disire to have residents attend, as time may not allow us to do so. We conduct meetings during business hours because the developer is still very much a part to the HOA. That is what our annual meeting is for. We do try and keep everyone updated with the newletter and website. It was posted and sent as an open invitation for residents to attend as a courtesy. Logistically, I do not think it would be feasible to accommodate everyone. If there is an issue that greatly impacts the neighborhood, then a special meeting can be called for.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Mike
Is there a reason why one must schedule an appointment to attend the Board Meeting of our own HOA? Shouldn't the HOA Board Meetings be in the evening which would allow all residents to attend and take a more active role in our own HOA?
They will not offer annual dues cause then they wouldn't be able to increase the rate for another year. I see all these increases and don't see anything that has improved in the community. O the little solar light on the mail boxes, but they don't work half of the time.
That's a great suggestion for paying the fees once a year with the offer of a discount for doing so.
On another note, what is the procedure for setting our HOA dues? Who has the authority to make this decision, and does the community at-large have any say? This seems to be the second or third increase in a year-- are there any new services being added to justify these increases?
Also, I am interested in keeping up-to-date on the board meetings-- could the minutes be posted on the website, including all the minutes since the last neighborhood-wide meeting? Also, there is an invitation on the website to come sit in on the meetings at Pioneer Farms, but I don't see any information on dates and times.
It is difficult to accept these decisions when the communication is so limited.

I am just curious why the dues keep increasing? Our dues used to be $240 a year, to almost $320 a year. That is a pretty dramatic increase. I am just curious to know where the money has been going. Unfortunately I have not had the time to go to any of the more recent meetings, but will plan to do so in the near future.
Your suggestion seems like a good idea. We'll have to check whether our bylaws allow it. This is certainly something we'll discuss at our next board meeting.
Really?! Which location did you go to? There was one at the swimming pool and one at the little park over on Payton Falls Drive. I suspect you went to the pool location. My girlfriend and I went to the Payton Falls one, and we saw one board member and at least 4 committee members there. We couldn't stay very long because we had other plans, but it seemed to have a nice little turnout. I know that most of the Board members live in the Payton Falls side of the neighborhood, and I suspect that most of the committee members do as well. So, maybe they were simply attending the Payton Falls location because it was the one closest to them?
On Tuesday October 7, 2008 neighborhoods throughout Austin are invited to join with thousands of communities nationwide for the 25th Annual National Night Out. Pioneer Crossing West will be hosting two separate parties for the two sides of our neighborhood. One will be at the swimming pool (1805 Musket Valley Trail) and the other will be at Payton Falls Park (1630 Payton Falls Drive). So, lock your doors, turn on your porch lights and come meet/greet your neighbors! Activities are planned for the kids!
Bring along:
A snack or dessert to share
A lawn chair or family blanket
A flash light
Sodas and bottled water will be provided. You can get directions on our Map and Directions page. There are several placemarks on the map, and two of them mark the swimming pool and the park.
National Night Out is designed to:
Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
Generate support and participation in crime efforts.
Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations.
Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
On October 7th, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, residents in neighborhoods throughout Austin and across the nation are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters and EMS paramedics. Events such as cookouts, block parties and neighborhood walks will all occur simultaneously throughout the city and nationwide.
This evening is a great opportunity for citizens and law enforcement to partner up against crime. We are encouraging everyone to come meet your neighbors and commit to help law enforcement reduce crime in your community. It is time to show the criminal element that we as a society are not going to just sit back and let crime occur in our neighborhoods. APD will make every effort to have an officer stop by each registered neighborhood party. You can get more information on this event by visiting the Austin Police Department National Night Out webpage at www.ci.austin.tx.us/police/nno.htm.
I went with my family to meet out HOA members and NOBODY, not even member of the committee were there. HOW ASHAME.. How do they expect us to be involved if they are not to begin with?
We should consider getting a gate so that people can not come int and out of the neighbor hood.

Another house was broken into this past month on Tin Can Drive by having the front door kicked in. It appears as though this is not a safe subdivison.

I wish this yard sale could have included our neighborhood. I have waited 3 yrs for something like this to happen.
unfortunately I am unable to organize this due to health problems. Thanks.

Right on Musket Valley I saw a neighbor who lives on Timber Heights throwing trash out of their car...
Is there something I can do about that?
Can I report them??
I have their license plate number & address
